Rules

Definitely

NO SMOKING

(If you break this you may be swimming home)

Ok joking aside these are the key do's and don'ts onboard

  1. Do have fun and enjoy your trip, but please be safe and follow these rules
  2. Don't assume always check
  3. Listen to the Captain and First Mate and follow their instructions
  4. Pay attention to safety briefings
  5. Do bring your sailing logbook so we can document your passages (Amazon)
  6. If you don't understand something please ask, we really don't keelhaul our crew for stupid questions only stupid mistakes
  7. Our crew mantra is Work hard / Play harder
  8. Don't bring narcotics, illegal substances, firearms or explosives
  9. If you have any medical conditions you must let us know
  10. Do bring plenty of Sunscreen
  11. As crew you are expected to work on this trip and will be assigned jobs - everybody is expected to support each other
  12. If we have charter guests (paying passengers) on-board our priority is to ensure that they have a great and memorable trip
  13. Having charter guests onboard often means more work for the crew but as a bonus they generally give a reasonable tip to the captain at the end of their week and this is shared equally with all the crew.
Personal Gear

We recommend that you bring your gear in Soft lightweight Holdalls, Rucksacks or Bags. As with planes this should include a small day backpack (like a carry on bag) and up to 2 larger pieces (Max 40kgs)

Please do not use hard suitcases as these are generally very bulky and will take up lots of space which is very limited on-board.

The following [Crew Packing List] is a suggested list of items that you may wish to bring with you.
Water Conservation

Fresh Water is a very scarce commodity. Please do NOT leave showers or taps running. So during long ocean passages we try to conserve as much as we can, and here possible we plan to shower or wash in the sea (off the back of the boat).
Safety

There is NO SMOKING on-board PERIOD!
Alcohol may be consumed in moderation (but NOT within 12 hours of a watch shift)
During foul weather and the hours of darkness the 'watch shifts' must wear a lifejacket and be clipped in at all times.
If in doubt rouse the Captain (you will never get in trouble for waking him)
Better safe than sorry!
